“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.

— Plutarch

At Incito Schools we strive to foster a passion within our learners that empowers them to  achieve their full potential and collaboratively contribute to their local and global community.  Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all learners have meaningful options for life and succeed academically, physically, and socially.  The educators at Incito Schools are highly effective practitioners who are skilled at facilitating learning through several modalities that are directly aligned to the Common Core State Standards. We utilize nationally- recognized curricula that includes Core Knowledge, Balanced Literacy, and Singapore Math. The aforementioned include opportunities for learners to become immersed in rigor and relevance in a collaborative learning environment.

Core Knowledge:

The foundation of Core Knowledge is built on the motto- educational excellence and equity for all children; it provides a sequence that  is coherent, cumulative, and content-specific. It threads opportunities for learners to construct knowledge and develop literacy and critical thinking skills in meaningful content. This enables the learners at Incito to actively become immersed in English/Language Arts, World and American History, Geography and Fine Arts though a literacy enriched-environment at every grade level. Learners explicitly learn fundamentals of science, basic principles of government, important events in world history, essential elements of mathematics, widely acknowledged masterpieces of art and music from around the world, and stories and poems passed down from generation to generation.

Singapore Math:

Singapore Math is a nationally-accomplished program that emphasizes a spiral and rigorous approach to mastery of mathematical concepts.  It derives from the pictorial component to the abstract, allowing learners to have a deep understanding of foundational mathematic skills. Singapore Math narrows its problem solving foundation on metacognition, processes, concepts, skills, and attitude; all supported with the knowledge of developmental psychology, pedagogy, and mathematics. Singapore Math serves as a vessel for our educators to navigate and support learners understanding of "why" or "how" we solve application based math problems.

Balanced Literacy:

Balanced Literacy is deep rooted in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing. Incito educators are highly trained in language arts acquisition and providing authentic learning opportunities for learners to communicate in written and oral fashions.  Through Balanced Literacy learners develop a love for reading and writing through direct and indirect reading instruction that includes modeled, shared, guided, and independent reading opportunities.
